Baby turtles are born at the aquarium Wakayama Kushimoto Town August 27, 21:04

At the aquarium in Kushimoto Town, Wakayama Prefecture, loggerhead turtle eggs hatch and baby turtles are born.

The Kushimoto Marine Park Center Aquarium in Kushimoto Town is known to have succeeded in breeding loggerhead turtles in 1995 for the first time in the world under manual breeding.

A total of 20 adult loggerhead turtles are bred in the aquarium, and many eggs hatch from August to September each year.

According to the aquarium, this year the first hatching was confirmed on the 20th of this month, and a total of 25 were born.

A newly born baby turtle has a shell length of 4.5 cm and weighs about 20 grams.

It means that if it grows up smoothly, it will start exhibiting in the museum from the 1st of next month.

In this aquarium, loggerhead turtle eggs are also visible, and you can observe the condition until hatching through the glass.

Tohru Yoshida, Deputy Director of Kushimoto Marine Park Center Aquarium, said, "The peak of hatching is expected to be about 300 in September. I don't think there will be a chance to see a newborn loggerhead turtle baby, so please come and visit us. Please."
