However, even if the cliché is authentic, it does not concern France but Belgium, where wearing a mask has been compulsory in all outdoor public spaces in the Brussels region since mid-August.

According to research by 20 Minutes , this snapshot was first published on Facebook on August 24 by a Brussels psychiatrist. The latter mentions the place where the photo was taken, namely the Forêt de Soignes, a few kilometers south-east of Brussels. The author of the publication does not hide his opposition to wearing a mask outside, denouncing "one of the peaks of the delirium of summer 2020".
On social networks, several publications using the same photo fail to mention its source, leading some Internet users to believe that such an obligation concerns France. However, the mask is compulsory in closed public spaces in France, as well as in the streets of certain large cities, in particular in Paris or Lyon. In Marseille, it must now be used throughout the municipality. Wearing a mask therefore does not concern natural areas in France.
