Nicki Minaj wants a jury to settle her dispute with Tracy Chapman
Nicki Minaj has been charged with copyright infringement by Tracy Chapman since her song Sorry was released by DJ Funkmaster Flex. Indeed, we found inside a sample of the title Baby Can I Hold You released in 1988 by the folk singer. However, for Nicki Minaj, this title having leaked, it was in her right, because it was not released officially.
“I wanted to send Flex a copy of Sorry to play on his show. That day, in the end, I changed my mind and never sent the recording ”, testified the interpreter of Anaconda, as relayed by Billboard. The singer added that when she learned that Flex had obtained a copy of the album, she told him, "Sir, you can only stream official albums."
The singer therefore wants a jury to examine the case in court in order to settle the dispute and clear her name.
