An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.7 occurred in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of the Kingdom of Tonga. This was reported in the Altai-Sayan branch of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Tremors were recorded at 01:50 Moscow time, Interfax reports.
Seismologists assessed the earthquake by the intensity of the shaking at the epicenter as "very strong".
Earlier it was reported about two earthquakes off the coast of the Commander Islands in the Kamchatka Territory.
