[Explanation] On the evening of August 23, the opening ceremony of the 4th 86358 Short Film Exchange Week was held in Jiajiazhuang, Fenyang, Shanxi. More than 30 Chinese-language short films and 8 Hungarian short films will be screened in local village theaters in the coming week. The initiator of the event, Jia Zhangke, said in an interview that evening that this is a rare film event held in the countryside.
The theme of this year's film festival is "Sit around the stove and shine together", with "Chinese Short Films", "Special Screenings", "Focus on Hungary" and "Native Power" units. Among them, of the 16 Chinese short films shortlisted in the "Chinese Short Films" section, 11 were world premieres, 1 was premiered in Asia, and 2 were premieres in China. In the "Focus on Hungary" unit, 8 high-quality short films were selected, and a cross-temporal dialogue between Chinese and foreign film short films was opened on the screen.
[Concurrent] Xu Zhipeng, curator of 86358 Short Film Exchange Week: We are cooperating with Budapest International Film Festival. This year we also selected eight short films from Hungary to do this special screening. Our eyes are not only focused on Chinese. With the creation of short films, we began to extend our international perspective. They hope to bring Hungarian short films to Shanxi, especially to smaller villages for screenings. They also hope to see the response of the most basic audience in China to the creation of short films abroad.
[Explanation] That night, heavy rain fell suddenly, but it failed to stop people's enthusiasm for the movie. The opening ceremony was packed. People wearing raincoats and umbrellas watched the opening short film "Love in the Ground" in the open square. From the 23rd to the 28th, there will be 9 screenings and exchanges, a film forum, an open film class, and two filmmakers parties.
[Contemporaneous] Director Jia Zhangke: This is one of the few film events held in the countryside. It is also related to the construction of the village of Jiajiazhuang, Luliang, Fenyang. We have not only built a seed theater there, but we are also preparing to build an art center. The exhibition halls and theaters, there are bookstores, and the whole thing is to hope that cultural resources can flow, so that young people in small and medium-sized cities and rural areas will have an opportunity to contact art and cultural resources. Another highlight is to take into account the exchanges of the film festival and education. Every year, there will be a fixed group of students from this film academy, and their works are displayed in a concentrated manner.
[Explanation] Four years ago, the first 86358 short film week landed in Jiajiazhuang like a seed. Since then, the short film week has focused on "committed to promoting the art of Chinese-language short films, promoting cultural exchanges, and discovering young film talents". The scale of the festival has continued to expand, becoming a highly influential cultural exchange platform for short films in China.

In fact, in addition to the short film week, we also have movie salons every Saturday and Sunday. We find that our audience is quite rich.
