This Sunday, the Bouches-du-Rhône firefighters struggled for several hours to overcome a major fire in Vitrolles, along the A7 motorway. According to a press release from the firefighters, the fire broke out around 1:30 p.m. and generated significant smoke, visible at the gates of Marseille. This fire required the closure of the A7 motorway and the evacuation of sixty people in a gymnasium in Vitrolles.

After the intervention of Canadairs and 250 firefighters, the fire was contained. The disaster covered 30 hectares. The evacuees were able to return to their homes at the end of the day. Two houses and a few vehicles were damaged by flames and smoke.
