Being able to cross paths with a bear in the Pyrenees is quite rare. If hikers have already been able to capture the walks of certain Ursidae from a distance on the Ariège or Val d'Aran side, it is a much rarer encounter in the foothills of Andorra.

Yet it is there that an inhabitant of the Principality was able to film for several seconds the beautiful escape of a young bear. He was at an altitude of nearly 2,500 meters, near the Sanfonts peak, not far from the border where Spain, France and Andorra cross, when his objective captured the wanderings of a bear.

Ferran Teixidó, one of the people in charge of the "cos de banders" who takes care of the surveillance of the fauna and flora for the Andorran government, told the newspaper Diari Andorra that the young animal was certainly looking for fresh meat of mouflon. .

During the last official census count made public by the French team responsible for monitoring plantigrade, the Pyrenees counted more than fifty. A figure that has certainly grown since then, cubs coming out of the den having been spotted during the spring and summer.
