10th Obon since the earthquake memorialized the remains that cannot be returned to the family Miyagi August 24, 17:57

A memorial service was held at a temple in Tagajo City, Miyagi Prefecture, where the remains of the family, who died in the Great East Japan Earthquake and were unable to return to their families without a collector, were returned.

On August 24, a memorial service was held to memorialize the victims at Kogokuji Temple in Tagajo City, where the remains of people who died in the Great East Japan Earthquake have been enshrined.

In the Buddhist memorial service, after the priest read the sutras, seven people, including those involved in the city that attended, burned incense and offered prayers.

This is the 10th Bon Festival since the earthquake, but when NHK interviewed 15 local governments on the coast of Miyagi Prefecture, they could not return to their families because they could not identify themselves or had a takeover. Remains have been raised for 80 people.

The remains of seven people who have no pick-ups are also stored in Kokokuji Temple where the memorial service was held, and even if they knew their identities, it was said that they could not receive the remains because they were alienated. This means that there are cases where you cannot return.

Hideyuki Kato, a chief priest of Kokokuji, said, "I would normally like to offer a memorial service to my family, but due to various reasons, I am offering a memorial service on behalf of my family every year. Let me pray with a feeling of comfort I was told."
