At the zoo in Kushiro, Hokkaido, the baby "Otalia", a fellow of the sea lions, grows up quickly, and its lovely appearance is becoming popular.
A female baby "Otalia", a mammal of the sea lion family, was born at the Kushiro City Zoo in the middle of last month, and is about 1 meter long, with a characteristic black hair color.
It is the first time in 12 years that I was born at Kushiro City Zoo.
As the baby became able to swim in about two weeks after birth, people cheered at the lovely appearance of sticking to the mother and feeding and sucking milk.
A 58-year-old man from Chiba Prefecture said, "It's cute like a miniature. It was worth coming."
Mr. Fumio Matsu, of Kushiro City Zoo, said, "I was surprised by the unexpected birth of a baby. I would like you to see a pretty figure."
The zoo will be recruiting baby names in the future.
