Famous broadcaster Larry King loses two of his children within 3 weeks ... and declines to comment

A source close to the family of popular talk show host Larry King told CNN that 2 of his children had died within about three weeks.

The source said that King's son (Andy), 65, died unexpectedly in the last week of July, and then his daughter Shaya, 52, died earlier this week.

Both sons resulted from King’s marriage to Aline Atkins, whom he married in 1961, and remarried in 1967. They divorced for the second and final time in 1971.

King and Shaya also co-authored a children's book called "Daddy Day, Daughter Day" in 1997, in which they recounted their experiences with divorce.

Atkins died in 2017, at which point King tweeted about it at the time. King is also the father of three children from other marriages, Larry Jr., Kelly and Kanon, and father of two children, Chance and Danny Southwick. He split from his last wife, Sean Southwick, in 2019. CNN earlier reported that King, 86, underwent a heart operation in 2019 after suffering chest pain.

Ora TV currently hosts "Larry King Now", which interviews celebrities, world leaders and internet stars. From 1985 to 2010, CNN hosted "Larry King Live". King has won an Emmy Award for News and Documentary twice, and won a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011. King declined CNN's request for comment on the two incidents at this time.
