Not everyone liked Cyril Lignac's Niçoise salad - LAURENT BENHAMOU / SIPA

In the south of France, there are traditions that should not be touched. The first is that you always add ice cubes to your pastis. The second is that we don't put potatoes and beans in the Niçoise salad. And that one, Cyril Lignac learned the hard way. While the most media of French chefs returns this Monday on M6 with Tous en cuisine , Internet users were outraged by the shopping list posted online a few days earlier.

To make Cyril Lignac's typical Riviera dish, you will need tuna, hard-boiled eggs, black olives… Until then, everything is fine. But the fervent supporters of the Niçoise salad choked on discovering that the chef was also incorporating beans and potatoes. This is too much for Internet users of the City of Angels, who have not hesitated to grab their keyboard to express their frustration. "I counted well: out of 17 ingredients listed for the Niçoise salad, 11 should not be there," wrote one of them.

Faced with criticism, M6 decided to react and published this Friday an updated list of ingredients, without the vegetables of discord. "It is all to your honor for having tried to respect as much as possible", reacts a tweeter after thanking the chef and the channel. Cyril Lignac is now warned: revisiting a recipe is possible, but going beyond traditions means rubbing shoulders with stronger than oneself.
