Her favorite quote:

Families keep under the cover so heavy and so powerful so many shattered dreams. Should we spot the key to these happy Atlantic summers, but still imbued with a light veil of sadness on my mother's face?

Why this book?

  • Because it is not a linear autobiography, but a disordered and repetitive look at childhood where everything must converge on a single date, that of the meeting with the painting Les Roulottes  by Vincent Van Gogh.
  • Because this book traces life paths, those of communist parents in Nanterre where we rub shoulders with the slums, of the grandfather who returned from the camps, but also of this neighbor who throws herself from the tenth floor and who was the initiator of the author, but also of this sister, suffocating in this suburb and who decides one day to leave.
  • Because this book is an encounter with a painting, but not only, with a key moment in life: the encounter with words.
