The Malian president was overthrown on Tuesday evening by a coup d'état carried out by part of the army. The soldiers said they wanted to put in place a "civilian political transition" leading to general elections within a "reasonable time". ECOWAS calls on the parties to "favor dialogue to resolve the crisis". The analysis of Gilles Yabi, political analyst and founder of the Wathi think tank, based in Dakar.
