Intubation hero: I finally became the pride of my son

This Doctor’s Day hopes to go home early and exchange more exchanges for children’s understanding

"Intubation Death Squad" is working

During the fight against the new crown pneumonia epidemic, the medical staff of Tongji Hospital affiliated to Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology have always stood at the forefront of epidemic prevention and control, admitting severe or critically ill patients with new coronary pneumonia. Under the leadership of Director Luo Ailin and Secretary Wan Li, the Department of Anesthesiology of the hospital has more than 80 doctors and nurses fighting on the front line of the epidemic. Among them, there are two mixed "intubation death teams" that are on standby 24 hours a day, racing against the gods of death, and the new crown. The virus is dancing "face dance".

Today is the third "Chinese Physician's Day." Those doctors who were fighting the epidemic, after the epidemic, are still fighting overnight on the front line of treatment and rescue.

"Intubation Death Squad" should join the battle

Wang Jingjing, the chief physician of the Department of Anesthesiology at Tongji Hospital, is a member of the "Intubation Squad".

She told a reporter from Beijing Youth Daily that all the things during the fight against the epidemic were like yesterday. For Wang Jingjing, one side is the 6-year-old baby in the family, and the other is the exhausted brothers and sisters in the fight against the epidemic. She said: "I think I should join this battle, I am afraid I will go too!" After that, she sent the child to her brother. Home, go to the hospital to work.

When the department notified to volunteer to sign up for the front-line anti-epidemic work, Wang Jingjing signed up as soon as possible. She had just finished a busy all-night shift the day before. I don't know if it was too hard. She felt a little tight in her chest. In addition, she had been in contact with suspected patients before, and a trace of ominous premonition came to her heart. Although she took her temperature and found no fever, after she had a chest CT scan, the report suggested: a patchy shadow in the lower left lung.

So, these days of anxiety, worry, and panic seemed to have found an outlet, and she couldn't help but hid and started crying. When her mood calmed down, Wang Jingjing informed the director of the situation and conducted self-isolation. After 14 days of isolation and observation, her lung CT showed that the lesions had improved significantly, and the nucleic acid test was negative.

Zero-distance contact says it's not afraid to be fake

As intubation anesthesiologists, they need to put their face close to the patient’s nose. From opening the mouth, exposing the glottis, to inserting the tracheal tube, a large amount of viral aerosol may be ejected during the entire process, which poses a huge risk of infection. They are all in zero-distance contact with the new coronavirus.

In theory, a virus of such a small size can "break down" the doctor's outermost layer of protection when it is sprayed quickly. "We are at the highest risk of exposure, and we are the closest to death, so close contact with a patient who releases a large amount of the virus is not afraid to be fake." Wang Jingjing said.

After the epidemic was over, the tracheal intubation team of the Zhongyuan District and Optics Valley District of the Department of Anesthesiology of Tongji Hospital were awarded the title of "Advanced Group for the Prevention and Control of New Coronary Pneumonia in the National Health System" issued by the Health Commission and other three ministries.

Everyone has their own responsibilities

"Because of the special nature of my job, I often work night shifts. My son may wake up and open his eyes and realize that his mother is gone, so he has always hated my job." Wang Jingjing said that she rarely talks about work with her family and attends I didn't dare to tell my family about the "Intubation Death Squad". Until a news report about the epidemic, her son recognized her on TV. That time, the son used her uncle's cell phone to video chat with her, "He proudly praised me as a hero and let me come back safely."

Wang Jingjing said that after the epidemic, after a few months of absence, his son seemed to be less disgusted with his work. He usually clings to himself and pretends to follow some medical books. “Of course, he also looks at the structure of the human body. Illustration.” Slowly, Wang Jingjing found that the child became interested in human anatomy. By pointing to the 3D model in the phone, he could tell the structure of the various bones and muscles of the human body. "Because I participated in the anti-epidemic work, maybe in his heart, my status is slightly higher than that of his father, and I finally became the pride of his son." Wang Jingjing's face was stunned.

She said that for several years, Physician's Day has always been a "carnival" in the circle of friends. My colleagues in the hospital didn't care very much. They were busy in the hospital as usual, and sometimes they didn't even have words of blessing to each other. . Colleagues received the most simple greetings from relatives and friends. But Wang Jingjing feels that this Physician's Day after the epidemic is destined to be no longer the same as usual.

Because in his son's mind, Physician's Day has become a "mother's exclusive" holiday, and the child promised her that no matter how late it is, he will wait to spend the holiday with her. "So this Doctor's Day, I only hope that I can go home earlier, accompany him more, and exchange more communication for the child's understanding."

Wang Jingjing also tried to make her son understand that "everyone has their own responsibilities, and they can't solve the problem after encountering difficulties. As long as they shoulder the responsibility, everyone can become a hero."
