Al Owais Cultural Foundation commemorates Habib Al Sayegh with "The Rose of Old Age"

A new book was recently published by the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation, as part of the “Winners” series, a new book entitled “The Rose of Age” by the late Emirati poet Habib Al-Sayegh (1955-2019). .

The late Habib Al-Sayegh had won the Sultan bin Ali Al-Owais Cultural Prize (Poetry Field) in the 14th session (2014-2015), and according to the jury, the award was mentioned by the jury: “The committee decided to award the award to the poet Habib Al-Sayegh, for being one of the pioneers of poetic modernity in the Arabian Gulf. And for his efforts to renew the form of the poem, its rhythms, and its contents, with its three types (column, passage, and prose), making them poetic mirrors through which we see the struggles of the Arab human being whoever he was, and he brought it out of its locality to the broadness of the general human concern.

The publication of this poetic book coincides with the anniversary of his death, which falls on August 20, 2019, at the age of 64. The book “The Rose of Old Age” is considered one of Habib Al Sayegh’s distinctive poetry books. Over the past years, Al Owais Foundation has issued dozens of influential books for the winners. On the other hand, it has issued other books in the same series that were singled out by the authors of the Sultan bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation as a first edition.

It is noteworthy that Al-Sayegh was born in Abu Dhabi in 1955, and obtained a BA in Philosophy in 1977, as well as a Master's degree in English-Arabic Linguistics and Translation in 1998 from the University of London. Work in the fields of journalism and culture.
