At around 3:30 pm on the 17th, a man with a knife broke into the “Nagoya Minami Otsu Town Post Office” in Sakae, Naka-ku, Nagoya.
According to investigators, the man threatened to rob the staff of the cash and try to evacuate the person inside, trying to escape, but a rushed police officer told him to release the hostage and gave up a handgun for intimidation. It means that one shot was fired.
The man released the hostages and fled, and another police officer who chased fired another shot to intimidate him and arrested him on the spot on suspicion of violating the arrest and sword law.
There were no injuries and the police are looking into the details.
The site is in a downtown area of Nagoya City, and there are subway stations and department stores nearby, so the surroundings were temporarily disturbed.
