Center for Victims of Sexual Crime Support to consider enhancement of functions such as 24-hour system 5:47 on August 16

In order to strengthen the function of the Center for Supporting Victims of Sex Crime and Sexual Violence, the government will start a study next month by establishing a meeting with relevant ministries and agencies.

One-stop support centers have been set up in 47 prefectures nationwide for consultation and treatment of victims of sexual crimes and sexual violence.

However, less than half of them operate 24 hours a day, and it is pointed out that the areas far from the center cannot receive sufficient support.

For this reason, the government has decided to set up a meeting next month, in which relevant ministries and agencies such as the Cabinet Office and the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, and the National Governor's Association will participate, saying that the function of the support center should be strengthened.

Then, we will consider expansion of the center, promotion of 24-hour system, introduction of consultation by SNS, cooperation with medical institutions and police.

Hashimoto, the Minister for Women's Empowerment, said, “We would like to consider a system that can provide more prompt and fulfilling support to people who have been victims of sexual crimes or sexual violence.”
