Saudi Arabia decides to keep school and university education "remote" due to Corona

The Saudi Ministry of Education decided to launch the next academic year, remotely, for school and university education, with the exception of practical lessons for university students due to fears of the outbreak of the new Corona virus (Covid 19).

Education Minister Hamad Al Al-Sheikh said that his country “decided to start the academic year remotely in general education for the first seven weeks, and remotely for theoretical courses in universities and technical education, and in attendance for practical courses.”

The minister added, in a televised speech on the official “Al-Akhbariya” channel, that “teachers will attend remotely with their students in the virtual classes.” He explained that the ministry will launch the electronic platform “my school” for distance education, while the lessons will continue to be broadcast through the ministry’s “Ain” channels.
