The situation in the eastern Mediterranean has been explosive since the dispatch on Monday August 10 by Ankara of a seismic research vessel, escorted by military vessels, in an area rich in gas fields claimed by Athens. On Friday, Turkey accused France of behaving like a “caïd”, after the deployment by Paris of ships and warplanes in the area. The lighting of Nicolas Monceau, lecturer in political science at the University of Bordeaux and associate researcher at the French Institute of Anatolian Studies in Istanbul (IFEA).
