China's State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters (referred to as " The National Defense General") decided to upgrade the flood control level IV emergency response to level III at 18:00 on the 14th.

  On August 14, the No. 4 flood of this year occurred in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River. Numbered floods occurred successively on the Shuhe and Yihe Rivers in the Yishu-Sishui system of the Huaihe River Basin. It is expected that from the 14th to the 16th, there will be large-scale heavy rainfall in the east southwest, east northwest, north China, northeast China, Huanghuai and other places, accompanied by strong convective weather such as thunderstorms and hail, and the flood control situation is severe.

  The National Defense Office and the Ministry of Emergency Management held a meeting on the 14th to discuss and judge the development of rain and flood conditions with the Ministry of Water Resources, the Ministry of Natural Resources, and the China Meteorological Administration, and further deploy a new round of heavy rainfall prevention and response in key areas.

  The meeting emphasized that in response to the new round of heavy rainfall in the near future, relevant regions should pay close attention to closely monitor the process of heavy rainfall in the Sichuan Basin, eastern northwest, central and southern North China, Liaodong Peninsula, Shandong and other places, and make every effort to prevent the mainstream of the upper reaches of the Yangtze River and the Minjiang, Tuojiang and Jialing Rivers. River basin floods, strengthen monitoring and early warning and hidden danger investigation, and refine personnel transfer and rescue measures to ensure the safety of people’s lives.

  At present, the Sichuan Working Group and the Haihe Working Group of the State General Defense Agency are inspecting and guiding flood control and disaster relief on the front line.
