In a letter sent to them on July 31, the DGS (Directorate General for Health) asked them to "organize themselves to be able to obtain supplies independently from October 5" and "to constitute a safety stock of surgical masks and FFP2 and other PPE necessary for the care of Covid patients (gloves, gowns, charlottes, aprons, glasses) corresponding to 3 weeks of consumption in times of epidemic crisis ”.
"Amazement"
A decision deplored in particular Onsil (National Organization of Liberal Nurses Unions) which expressed "its amazement" in a press release published on August 5. Its president, Antoinette Tranchida, asks Olivier Véran to "take a position quickly on this subject which has already resulted, in addition to the deaths of many people, the contamination of thousands of caregivers including many liberal nurses that the State does not want. still not count ”.
"Without any prior consultation, the DGS balances this information on us," laments Luc Duquesnel, president of the Généralistes-CSMF (Confederation of French medical unions) with Francetvinfo. "I do not have the feeling that the government is projecting itself into what awaits us with the resumption of the epidemic in the fall," he adds.
Deploring that "the majority of city professionals managed alone during the crisis to provide themselves with personal protective equipment", she now expects the Minister of Solidarity and Health to facilitate supplies "in particular in surgical masks, Ffp2 and gloves ”, the price of which would be capped for health professionals. "Our income does not allow us to make such investments," said Antoinette Tranchida in her press release.
A more justified “exceptional organization”
Contacted by Francetvinfo, the DGS explains that "the exceptional organization" and "extremely heavy" deployed during the crisis is no longer justified. “Today, the production of masks and PPE is again abundant, trade has resumed, global stocks are being replenished and delivery times have returned to normal. "
And in the case of a second wave, the DGS ensures that "the supply of liberal health professionals or home workers will always be provided by pharmacies that will receive stock from the state, according to the model proven in recent months ”.
