Like every summer, caution is required for those who will roam the very dry forests of the country. It is estimated that more than 80% of forest fires are of human origin.

Good habits are well known: do not leave any waste, refrain from smoking, ban barbecues or campfires, and keep an eye out when crossing a wooded area. At the slightest smoke, notify the emergency services. Your vigilance can save hectares of forest… and lives.

If you find yourself facing a fire starting, you can try to put it out, provided you do not put yourself in danger. Otherwise, move away as quickly as possible along an axis perpendicular to the spread of the fire and apply a damp cloth to your mouth and nose: it will reduce the effects of the smoke.
