The authorities of Puy-de-Dôme expressed their indignation on Thursday after the injury of a firefighter in intervention. This brings to 24 the number of attacks or incivilities of which the firefighters were victims this year in the department. The firefighters "were once again taken to task and attacked in the exercise of their missions".

"A firefighter was injured and several vehicles were damaged by projectile jets", indicate in a joint press release Anne-Gaëlle Baudouin-Clerc, prefect of the department and Jean-Yves Gouttebel, president of the departmental council and as such president of Sdis (Departmental fire and rescue service). This one intervened this Wednesday evening for a scooter fire. He received shards of glass in the cheek when the window of the vehicle he was in was shattered by a stone throw, reported a firefighter from Codis (departmental fire and rescue operational center).

A prevention protocol at the start of the school year

A complaint, with which the prefecture joined, was filed by Sdis. "Since the beginning of the year, 24 attacks or incivilities have been recorded against the firefighters of Puy-de-Dôme", deplore the prefect and the president of the departmental council, considering that it is not " it is not permissible for such facts to be repeated and become commonplace ”.

Both “join forces to provide full support to all of the department's firefighters. Women and men in the service of their fellow citizens cannot be the target of such attacks and attacks. They must be respected and protected ”. “A protocol for preventing and combating attacks against firefighters in intervention (…) will be signed at the start of the school year” in the presence of the public prosecutor of Clermont-Ferrand, they specify.
