Ricky Martin is now a happy dad of four, but has long wanted to become a father. Only, as he explained in a long interview for the magazine Out, the difficulty of adopting when one is homosexual was a brake.

“For many years I have dreamed of being a father, but many, many times I have had to go through this grieving phase telling myself that I'm gay, I'm a gay man in the closet, and I don't. won't be able to be a dad. Obviously, adoption is a very nice option, but unfortunately for gay men it is very difficult to adopt in some countries, ”he explained.

The interpreter of La Vida Loca became a father at 35 of twins, Matteo and Valentino, born by surrogate mother. Two years later, in 2010, Ricky Martin came out. Since 2016, he has been in a relationship with the painter Jwan Josef, whom he married two years later. Together they are parents to 19 month old Lucia and 9 month old son Renn, both also born by GPA.

The couple also considered adoption to expand their family. “At times I want 10 more, and then some mornings when everyone is crying, I tell myself that a family of 6 (people) is enough,” he added. Moreover, he believes that having a child at 48 is more difficult. “You need energy! I'm strong, healthy - I can carry two babies at the same time with the stroller and the backpack - but that's a lot. It's a lot of responsibility, ”confesses Ricky Martin.
