New Corona Tokyo PCR test for all staff at nursing homes in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, August 13, 11:19

To prevent outbreaks of the new coronavirus, Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo, will regularly conduct PCR tests for all staff working in nursing homes within the ward.

A total of 430 employees working at 7 facilities such as special elderly nursing homes and group homes in Chiyoda Ward will perform saliva PCR tests.

Tests should be performed every 3 months because a negative result may result in infection. It also means that elderly people who will newly enter the facility will be examined.

According to the ward, we are expecting about 30 million yen for this business this year, and we will use the contingency of the supplementary budget established in June.

Chiyoda Ward Elderly Care Division says, "If a cluster occurs in a nursing facility, many lives are at risk, so we would like to try infection prevention by testing even those who have no symptoms."
