The Standing Committee of the National People's Congress decided on August 11 that the sixth Legislative Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region will continue to perform its duties for no less than one year until the beginning of the term of the seventh Legislative Council.
According to the Information Service of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor thanked the establishment members for their understanding and support of the Special Administrative Region Government for postponing the general election of the Legislative Council for one year in response to the severe epidemic, and welcomed the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress to resolve the "vacuum period" of the Legislative Council in the coming year.
