[Explanation] Recently, the Shandong Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology discovered the site of the ancient city during the Warring States Period at the Liangwang Site in Licheng District, Jinan City, which is the earliest ancient city discovered in Jinan City. This archaeological discovery has advanced the history of the ancient city of Jinan City by approximately 1700 years. In addition, archaeologists also discovered Tang Dynasty ruins and relics in this area, proving that this place was more prosperous in ancient times.

[Explanation] On August 12, the reporter saw at the archaeological site of the ancient city ruins that warning signs of "city wall ruins, construction prohibited" were set up around the site, and protective backfilling was being promoted at the site. Dong Wenbin, leader of the archaeological team at the Liangwang site, said that at the beginning, they did not identify it as an ancient city site.

At first, we thought it was a rammed earth tomb, and later the rammed earth remains gradually grew longer based on exploration. From the exploration of 20 meters, we thought it was a courtyard, to 50 meters, we thought it was a wall, and then 100 meters, we thought it was a retaining wall, and when it reached more than 200 meters, we determined whether it was a city wall. This whole process is actually a gradual process of understanding. At the end of the day, we find the Western Wall, and we are not sure if we find the North Wall. This is basically a city.

[Explanation] With the progress of archaeological excavations, the archaeologists determined that the ancient city ruins are roughly rectangular, with a total area of about 140,000 square meters. The city wall is about 300 meters from east to west, and about 220 meters from north to south. The inner area of the city is about 70,000 square meters. During the excavation process, archaeologists also found a large number of pottery urns, pots, pottery beans, slabs and tubs. Through the exploration of the unearthed cultural relics and geographical location, the archaeologists judged that this was a military town established by the Qi State in Bianyi during the Warring States Period.

Its geographical location is about 4 kilometers away from Baoshan, the southern mountainous area, and about 4 kilometers away from Jishui in the north. It is right at the throat of the main traffic road, in the middle position, so it is here. The nature of this military defense is obvious. If it is said that the western countries, including the country of Yan, or the country of Jin, go to Qi country, they must pass this place, because as long as they pass this place, they will reach Zibo and Linzi, the capital of Qi.

[Explanation] In the next step, archaeologists will sort out and research the unearthed cultural relics, gain a deeper understanding of the cultural features of the ancient city and the living conditions of the ancients, determine the specific age of the ancient city through sample testing, and consult the literature records to understand the specific nature of the city site.
