"Pretty woman in shock"

The main character of the Russian comedy "Pretty Woman in Stroke" is the girl Polina. She has a lot of problems at work and in her personal life, and in addition - terrible complexes on the topic of appearance. Polina hopes to transform herself through physical activity and plastic surgery, but to no avail. Everything changes when the heroine gets a head injury. She regains consciousness confident that she looks perfect.

"Pretty Woman in Stroke" is a Russian remake of the American comedy "Pretty Woman" with Amy Schumer. However, the creators of the domestic film decided not to dwell only on the complexes related to appearance: the filmmakers tried to show what difficulties, professional and personal, a woman faces when she is forced to do “male” work.

The main role in the film was played by Yulia Alexandrova. Also, Andrey Burkovsky and Yana Koshkina are involved in the project. Previously, the artists worked together on the popular TV series Call DiCaprio! For director Yana Gladkikh, "Pretty Woman in Strike" became a full-length debut.

"Baby teeth" (Babyteeth)

The Australian drama Milk Teeth premiered at the 2019 Venice International Film Festival. The film entered the main screening competition and received four awards at once, including the Marcello Mastroianni Prize, which is awarded to the best young actor or actress. The prize went to Toby Wallace. The film also stars Little Women star Eliza Scanlen.

According to the plot, a seriously ill teenage girl Milla falls in love with a guy with a dubious reputation and, realizing that she already has nothing to lose, she goes "all bad" with him.

The heroine's parents are horrified by what is happening, but over time they notice that new feelings awaken in their daughter a thirst for life. Realizing this, they decide not to interfere with their beloved. Ultimately, what could have turned into a disaster helps the family find grace in the chaos around them.

As film critic Adam Graham of The Detroit News noted, there are many films about terminally ill teenagers, but Milk Teeth "shuns clichés and finds truth and honesty in their characters."

The Postcard Killings

The premiere of the crime thriller "Murder by Postcards" previously took place on the network, and now it can be seen on the big screen.

The film is based on the eponymous bestseller by James Patterson and Lisa Marklund. The events of the tape unfold in a number of European cities, where a maniac killing newlyweds is wielding. Moreover, he kills in a sophisticated way: the scenes of crimes resemble the plots of paintings by famous artists.

Before each murder, the maniac sends journalists postcards from museums, in which clues are encrypted. This continues until the daughter of an experienced detective, played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, becomes a victim of the maniac. He joins the investigation and goes in search of the killer.

It is noteworthy that the operator of the project was Salvatore Totino, who shot the film adaptations of Dan Brown's detective novels, the plot of which is also closely related to art, such as The Da Vinci Code, Angels and Demons and Inferno. The film was directed by Danis Tanovich, who was awarded an Oscar for the film No Man's Land.

"My Creator" (Archive)

It's 2040s. A young scientist is going through the death of his wife. In a secret laboratory, he develops artificial intelligence in order to place the consciousness of his wife in him, thereby bringing her back to life. All this time, consciousness is in the archive, but its storage period expires, and the process of creating an innovative development is delayed. The hero seeks to finish the invention as soon as possible, until the identity of the deceased is forever lost. At the same time, the management of the archive learns about his project and sets out to prevent the creation of technology.

"My Creator" is both a sci-fi tape and a touching human drama.

The director of the film is Gavin Rothery, a debutant in full length. According to Dread Central film critic Drew Tinnin, Rothery has managed to glimpse the future of film science fiction and, at the same time, respect the traditions of the genre.

"Somewhere in time" (The Fare)

Another fantastic tape - "Somewhere in Time" - is being released by director David Hamilton. For him, this work was also one of the first. Brynna Kelly wrote the script for the film. He and Gino Anthony Pesi ("42", "The Vampire Diaries") played the main roles.

The action of the picture unfolds today, and its main locations are a car and a road somewhere in the middle of the desert. The main characters are a taxi driver and his fellow traveler. It all starts harmlessly: the driver takes the woman to her destination. But then she disappears. The shocked man resets the counter and returns to where he met his fellow traveler, but the situation repeats over and over again. The heroes find themselves in a time loop and have no idea how to get out of it.

“Atakan. Bloody legend"

Atakan is an ancient magical artifact, a former altar where, according to legend, pagans made human sacrifices many years ago. It is located in an abandoned underground laboratory created specifically for its study. Several students of a historical university, led by a teacher, descend into the St. Petersburg dungeons in the hope of finding an artifact. There they find themselves in mortal danger.

The film was shot in the genre of mocumentari, imitating documentary filming. The director is 28-year-old Alexander Grishin, who previously worked only with short forms. The main role in the tape was played by Ksenia Plyusnina, who starred in the biographical film "Summer" by Kirill Serebrennikov.
