It is a very heavy repression that has descended on the Belarusian opposition and its supporters since Sunday's polls, with hundreds of arrests, and the flight abroad of opposition candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya. Officially reelected with 80% of the vote, Alexander Lukashenko remains in power, but it is a more contested president than ever who will begin his sixth term as head of the country.
