The journey of Emirati Fatima Al-Hashemi began with music from a young age through playing the piano, as she grew up in a family that refined her artistic sense since her early years by listening to fine tunes on a permanent basis at home, to complete this journey at school, and then discover a new passion in this world, which is singing Opera.
Fatima has finally succeeded in winning the "From Home to Theater" competition, organized by the Dubai Opera, in operatic singing, and she will give an hour-long concert on the opera stage, and she aspires to start from this stage to the world, as she confirmed in her dialogue with "Emirates Today." ».
She said that she received support in refining her artistic talents mainly from her family, which made her develop her passion in a large way, but despite her family's penchant for oriental art, she was more inclined to Western singing.
Regarding her beginnings in the world of music and singing, Al-Hashemi explained: “I grew up in an artistic family, but they are more inclined to oriental music. Al-Arabi, and he was determined to support and develop my talent, and to pursue my creativity from my childhood until I reached the stage in which I began to develop myself ».

As for the beginning of the first journey with the world of score and playing, the Emirati artist confirmed that she was with the accordion instrument, which she practiced in a school that greatly developed in students a love for classical Western music, considering that this trend may be what made her more mastery of Western classical music And most of her passion, and perhaps that is the reason that prompted her to go to this type of singing, while at the same time that she loves oriental music.
After school and the first stage of learning music, Fatima improved her playing, as she received private lessons, and at the university stage she continued her studies, and underwent exams in Britain, then joined the piano center of the Ministry of Culture, and from 2009 until today, she has always participated in private concerts And generally in diplomatic and cultural events, and she obtained the certificate equivalent to a bachelor’s in the field of piano, which enabled her to obtain a job in the Ministry of Culture, head of the music department.
Al-Hashimi attended a private party, which was a transfer point for her to the world of opera and singing. About this turning point, she said: "I attended a party in which an Emirati opera singer was present, which made me look at the opera in a different way, especially since I was more inclined to Western singing, and this occasion was the station from which I decided to enter the field of operatic singing, and I started taking vocal training sessions."
Without the knowledge of its people
Al-Hashemi began the journey of singing without the knowledge of her family, and after obtaining a master's degree at the Sorbonne University in Performing Arts, at the graduation ceremony held in the French capital Paris, she presented her project, which is a performance concert and sang for the first time in front of her family, after they were expecting her to perform on The piano, but this surprise made them provide her with more support and assistance in her music career.
The Emirati talent enjoys the voice of "Mitsu-Soprano" and practices singing for an hour a day, noting that the challenges that singing opera carry were multiple at the beginning, as this world was different to her, given the new terms it brings to her, despite what she endures. From a background and culture in the field of music, including the use of head voice or forehead voice.
She explained that the musical culture that she possesses in the field of playing is completely different from all the details of singing in opera, as she found many challenges, perhaps because the only instrument she is practicing with is the voice and the body, noting that she sings as well for Umm Kulthum, Fayrouz and Muwashahat, but she does not sing Al Khaleeji. Prefer classical singing in general, pointing out that there are no specific artists affected by them, as it is affected by each piece or song presented in an influential and different way.
The dream .. at the beginning
Fatima Al-Hashemi's dream in the world of music and singing is still in its beginnings, as she considers herself still at the first step in her artistic career, noting that the first step should have been from Dubai Opera, and that her victory in the "From home to theater" competition, and her presentation of a party The opera stage, it will be the first door through which you enter the world with performances in different theaters.
She revealed that she wishes to participate in a complete operatic work, while the character that attracts her most that she likes to play is the character of "Carmen".
The engineer who influenced art
Fatima Al-Hashemi carries her mission in the field of art, and makes every effort to reach the people, after studying engineering, she did not work in this field, but rather went to music, as she found that there is a greater need for those who provide their talents and expertise in this field, and that there are enough engineers to They present their talents in that profession.
She added: “I believe that I can deliver a message to future generations that music is not just a talent but also a profession, and opera may have a limited audience, but Western music is in the process of developing in the Arab world, and I am also working on a project to sing opera in Arabic, and pieces that can touch the heart the person".
