"Getting an ID card means I am a legal citizen!"

At 4 pm on the 12th, Zhang Yuhuan, a citizen and police station in Jinxian County, Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province, was acquitted 8 days ago and received his temporary resident ID card, accompanied by his family.

After being detained for nearly 27 years, the 53-year-old Zhang Yuhuan finally regained his identity. When Zhang Yuhuan was arrested in 1993, he had not yet received his resident identity card.

As early as the third day after returning home, Zhang Yuhuan, accompanied by his family, went through the procedures for applying for a resident identity card. According to the "Instructions for Handling Nanchang Resident ID Cards" issued by Nanchang Public Security Bureau, the time limit for handling resident ID cards is 30 days.

This means that Zhang Yuhuan will have to wait up to 30 days from the date of application to get his official resident ID card.

On the morning of the 12th, Zhang Yuhuan, accompanied by his second son Zhang Baogang, came to the household registration window of the Minhe police station a few kilometers away from his place of residence. After completing the fingerprint information collection and other procedures, he successfully went through the relevant procedures for his personal temporary resident ID card. According to relevant regulations, the temporary resident ID card is available on the day.

"I heard people say that you need an ID card to take a train or an ID card to stay in a hotel. I don't know." Zhang Yuhuan said that for him, he doesn't take a plane or a train, so he doesn't feel very useful.

After lunch, after a short break, Zhang Yuhuan, accompanied by his eldest son Zhang Baoren, came to the Minhe Police Station again, and handed him a brand new temporary resident ID card.

He held the temporary resident ID card in both hands and carefully put it on his chest to show it to everyone. "It means a lot, it means I am a legal citizen." He said.

Zhang Baoren told a reporter from China News Agency that his father's future life needs to take time. "It's not a day or two for (life) to get back on track. It can be a year or two."

A reporter from China News Agency noticed that Zhang Yuhuan was held by his son Zhang Baoren during the whole process from walking down the stairs of the police station building to getting into the car.

Earlier, Zhang Baoren told a reporter from China News Agency that after returning home, his father is like a two or three-year-old child who needs to adapt to the current society and life. (Finish)
