In 1970, a legendary music festival was held on the Isle of Wight, in the south of the United Kingdom. Every day, Europe 1 offers you an archive report produced around what was, one year after Woodstock, the last great hippie gathering.

The special envoy of our radio station, which was called Europe number 1 at the time, François Jouffa was on the Isle of Wight. Every day, he chronicled the news of this gigantic festival on the air.

This evening, François Jouffa evokes the question of food, necessarily central on an island which has grown from 100,000 to seven times in a few days. No problem for the better-off. Much more for those who arrived penniless.

Report from August 27, 1970.
