The Sheikh Zayed Book Award announced the restructuring of its scientific body, welcoming the entry of four new members. Each year, the scientific body undertakes the task of selecting a group of prominent cultural figures to work in the nine arbitration committees, and it also considers the committee’s proposals and approves them before submitting them to the award’s board of trustees, to issue final approval and select the winners of the Sheikh Zayed Book Award.

The new members are: the French researcher Florial Sanagistan, the Egyptian academic Dr. Muhammad Abul Fadl Badran, the Jordanian-German translator Dr. Mustafa Suleiman, and the Jordanian-American academic Dr. Khaled Al-Masry.

The Secretary-General of the Sheikh Zayed Book Award, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Center for the Arabic Language, Dr. Ali bin Tamim, said, “The restructuring of the scientific body of the award comes in order to complete the developments of the award, follow up on developments in the field of authorship, research and creativity, and work to provide the award with the best Arab and international scientific expertise. For his part, the French researcher Floreal Sanagestan, who enjoys a prominent position in the French academic community, expressed his happiness at joining the scientific body of the award. “I am proud to be part of one of the most important components of the cultural scene in the UAE,” he said. And I assure you that the pursuit and acquisition of knowledge has become more important in our time, and I am happy to see the success and growth enjoyed by this award year after year. ”

Sanagestan is currently a professor in the Arabic Studies branch at the University of Lumiere in Lyon, and he is an expert in the history of the Arabic language, medieval philosophy and epistemology.

As for Dr. Muhammad Abul Fadl Badran, he is the vice president of South Valley University in Egypt, and he is the former Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Culture and the former president of the General Authority for Cultural Palaces in Egypt. He worked in a number of universities, including the United Arab Emirates University.

For his part, the translator, Mustafa Suleiman, thanked the award for choosing him as a member of the scientific body, adding: “During the past 11 years I have supervised the review of literary translations from German into Arabic within the Kalima project for translation, and this has contributed to strengthening my career, and I am happy to join this distinguished constellation Among the prominent literary figures, within the scientific body of the Sheikh Zayed Book Award.

Dr. Mustafa Suleiman lives in the German capital Berlin and works as an interpreter and cultural mediator.

As for Dr. Khaled Al-Masry, he is a university professor who teaches in the Department of Modern Languages ​​and Literature at Swarthmore University in Pennsylvania, USA, holds a PhD in Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor in the United States, and has taught Arabic language and Arabic literature in a number of universities in America . He has published two books about the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi and Oral History in the UAE.

Al-Masry said: “I am honored to be selected to contribute to this cultural movement, which seeks to support creative minds in the Arab world, and I hope that the experiences I have gained in the United States will contribute to enhancing my role and contribution to this award, and I look forward to working side by side with my colleagues in the authority.” .
