A five-year-old child who drowned on Sunday in the Charente river, at the Montignac-sur-Charente nautical stadium, died during the night, South West reports this Monday .

The drama occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday. The child allegedly escaped the vigilance of their parents, who found him floating on the surface of the water. After taking him out of the river, they tried to revive him while waiting for help to arrive.

The boy was urgently helicoptered to Poitiers CHU, where he was pronounced dead a few hours later.
