Obligation to wear a mask until September 10 minimum

For Ile-de-France residents, it will therefore be necessary to pay attention to new signs. Information panels should be installed to warn residents when entering and leaving the places affected by the obligation, because the wearing of masks will be introduced at least until September 10. The City of Paris ensures that for two weeks, the time that everyone adopts these new rules, there will be a certain tolerance. Beyond that, the non-wearing of the mask in the areas concerned will be punishable by a fine of 135 euros, as is already the case in public transport.

Why is the avenue des Champs-Élysées not concerned?

On social networks, many wondered this weekend of the areas chosen by the City of Paris. Indeed, neither the Eiffel Tower, nor the Champs-Élysées, which are however the main tourist places of the capital, are not affected by this new measure. "The cartography was made with the recommendations of the Prefecture of Police, then with the indications of various mayors of the arrondissement. Given the width of the sidewalks and the fact that the tourist frequentation is less, this makes it possible, for the moment, not to not make it compulsory to wear a mask on an artery such as the Champs-Élysées or the Grands Boulevards ", explains Audrey Pulvar, assistant to the City of Paris, at the microphone of Europe 1.

The card can change regularly

For now, it is rather the North and East of Paris that will have to get used to wearing a surgical or fabric mask. Some have also pointed out some inconsistencies: for example, rue Manin, which runs along the west of the Buttes-Chaumont park is concerned ... but not rue Botzaris and rue de Crimée, which run along the east and north respectively. one of those green lungs of the capital. The mapping could, however, change depending on epidemiological data and the observation of frequentation of public spaces, warns the City of Paris.
