Nagasaki atomic bomb kills more than 1,400 people Shiroyama Elementary School Peace Hope Rally August 9 14:57

A meeting was held at Shiroyama Elementary School near the hypocenter of Nagasaki City to pray for peace, and children prayed for the victims and renewed their feelings for peace.

At the Shiroyama Elementary School, the predecessor of Shiroyama Elementary School, located 500 meters from the epicenter of Nagasaki City, the atomic bomb killed more than 1400 children and teachers, and the old school building on the premises tells the damage of the atomic bomb. It has been designated as a National Historic Site as one of the "A-bombed remains".

Every month, elementary schools hold a meeting to think about peace. On the 9th, 90 sixth-grade children sang in the gym after singing "The Soul of the Children", which has been sung for peace. I turned the flower toward the memorial.

After this, the "Oath for Peace", which we considered for each class, was announced.

This year's event was held online to prevent infectious diseases, and children in each class announced messages on the TV screen, such as "Let's spread the peace of mind to the vine and spread it all over the world."

Then, at 11:02 am, when the atomic bomb broke, each class silently renewed their thoughts for peace.

Mr. Yui Taura, a 5th grader, said, “I am glad I could pray firmly because many people have died in the atomic bomb.”

Eita Katayama, a 5th grade student, said, “The day of the atomic bomb is a very important day, so I would like to study more and tell more people.”
