The heat wave is gaining ground all over France. Five additional departments, all located in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, were placed on Sunday in orange heat wave vigilance, while 15 departments in the north of the country remain in red, Météo-France announced.

"Five departments of the Center-East are going on vigilance orange heat wave: Haute-Loire, Isère, Ain, Savoie and Haute-savoie," Météo-France announced Sunday afternoon. France therefore now has 54 departments on orange alert.

Fifteen departments, that is all Hauts-de-France and Ile-de-France, as well as Eure and Seine-Maritime in Normandy, remain placed in red vigilance.

The heatwave will last a few more days

"Note that the weather is becoming less stable than the previous days with heat storms developing punctually over a large part of France ranging from the Pyrenees, to the Center, Burgundy, the central massif and the Center-East", announces the latest bulletin from Météo France. The heatwave should also last a few more days according to experts: “This heat wave promises to be lasting, at least until Tuesday. A broad and frank marked stormy degradation should put an end to it, by the west from Wednesday ”.
