"Watching without eating" Nagashi Somen Preventing new corona infection Tsuwano 20:14 on August 9th

In Tsuwano Town, Shimane Prefecture, where the number of tourists is drastically decreasing due to the new coronavirus, a unique event was held where children watch Nagashi Somen without eating it in order to provide a bright topic.

The event was held for the first time at Taikodani Inari Shrine in Tsuwano Town, which has a 300-meter-long torii gate.

A "toi" made by splitting about 100 bamboos was set up along the approach, and somen was washed away one after another. About 30 local children gathered on the approach, but we watched without eating to prevent infection with the new coronavirus.

Even so, the children cheered every time somen was played, and then enjoyed picking up capsules containing the sweets that had been washed away with a special tool.

Shiro Tanaka, the executive committee member who held the event, said, “I felt cool and filled my heart. I hope we can hold an event that will please everyone again next year.”
