It was reported that Hong and Zhang Mouguang (male, 21 years old, from Suqian, Jiangsu) and Cao Mouqing (male, 20 years old, from Nanjing, Jiangsu) conspired in Nanjing, and Zhang Mouguang and Cao Mouqing went to Menghai County on 7. On the evening of September 9th, Li Mouyue was lured to kill and bury his body in the forest on the outskirts of the county. A reporter from the Beijing News found that Hong and Zhang were suspected to be students of Jiangsu Maritime Vocational and Technical College, and Cao and Hong were both fans of water guns (a toy gun that can fire soft water-absorbing gel bullets) .
Some netizens broke the news that Hong was a fan of water guns. A reporter from the Beijing News contacted many netizens in a water gun forum in Nanjing and contacted one of them, Wang Liang (a pseudonym). On the evening of August 8, a reporter from the Beijing News met Wang Liang. Wang Liang said that he is a 2013 student of Jiangsu Maritime Vocational and Technical College. Hong and himself are alumni. During the school, the two met because they were both military fans and like water bomb guns.
Wang Liang stated that the other suspect in this case, Zhang Mouguang, is also a student of Jiangsu Maritime Vocational and Technical College and is Hong's "little brother". He often "mixed" with Hong during the school, and the third suspect Cao Mouqing He and Hong are friends in the same water gun club.
The above information was confirmed by two other students who claimed to be graduates of Jiangsu Maritime Vocational and Technical College.
In addition, a message posted on Weibo by suspected Hong on October 30, 2014 said, "I am Hong...Let us act together!" and circled the Jiangsu Maritime Youth. This is also the only Weibo posted by the account so far.
On the afternoon of August 6, a reporter from the Beijing News contacted Jiangsu Maritime Vocational and Technical College. A staff member of the Propaganda Department said that the school does not accept interviews with reporters and that the information of graduates needs to be consulted by the leadership. As of press time, Jiangsu Maritime Vocational and Technical College has not responded to the suspect’s identity information.
