He counted for a lot in the good season achieved by Stade de Reims in the league during this shortened 2019-2020 season. If the Rémois finished in 6th place, synonymous with a ticket for the second qualifying round of the next Europa League, with the added bonus of best defense status (21 goals conceded in 28 matches played), it is because they could count on Axel Disasi. From now on, it is in Monaco that the person concerned will continue his journey.

"Continue my progress in a club with high ambitions"

The player was coveted, especially in the Premier League, but it was ASM who got his signature on Friday August 7th. The 22-year-old defender signed a five-year contract with the Monegasque club, and after only one year in Ligue 1 (he appeared very episodically in 2018-2019 before being promoted to holder in 2019-2020). The amount of his transfer was not disclosed by Reims and Monaco, but according to several press titles, it cost ASM 15 million euros (including 2 million euros in the form of a bonus).

“  I am delighted to join AS Monaco. This is a great opportunity for me to demonstrate my qualities at the highest level and to continue my progress in a club with high ambitions  , ”said Axel Disasi to the Rouge et Blanc official website.

Former French international U20 and neo-Congolese international

Trained and turned pro at Paris FC, the 1.90m defender joined Reims in 2016. During the 2019-2020 season, he was omnipresent, playing all of the first 27 days and only missing the 28th due to 'a calf injury. His performances ended up arousing the interest of the selection of Leopards, Axel Disasi having French nationality and Congolese nationality. At the beginning of March, Christians Nsengi Biembe had also preselected him for the first time for the qualifying matches for CAN 2021 against Angola. Two meetings that were finally canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Former French international under 20, Axel Disasi arrives in a bloated workforce where there are no less than 10 central defenders. But the transfer window should see AS Monaco go on a "diet" with a good number of departures. And it would be surprising if the club, now coached by Croatian Niko Kovac, leaves out a high-performance, coveted player who has cost a lot of money.
