Dirty Dancing will have a new movie. A remake of the film Dirty Dancing is in production and Jennifer Gray is expected to reprise her iconic role as Frances "Baby" Housemam , three decades after the original film was released.
The 1987 romantic hit about a teenage girl who falls in love with her dance instructor at summer camp raised Gray and her co-star Patrick Swayze to world fame.
The scene climax of the film in which Swayze swears "Nobody puts Baby in a corner" ( "No corrals Baby" ), before completing a dance routine lifting Gray over his head, stared at the scene gallery iconic Hollywood movies .
Gray will star in and executive produce the new film, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer has confirmed .
"It will be exactly the kind of romantic nostalgic film that fans of the franchise have been waiting for and that has made it the best-selling title in company history."
Dirty Dancing , a low-budget film that grossed more than $ 210 million worldwide, already spawned a prequel, 2004's Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights . No plot details were revealed and it is unknown if the film will be a direct sequel.
Swayze died of pancreatic cancer in 2009 at age 57. The original film won an Oscar for the song (I've Had) The Time of My Life . The new film will be directed by Jonathan Levine ("Warm Bodies").
