The African Football Confederation (CAF) largely unveiled on August 3 the places, dates and conditions of the end of the 2019-2020 African club cups, interrupted for more than 4 months because of the Covid-19 pandemic .

CAF has chosen two very different options for the Champions League (C1) and the Confederation Cup (C2).

Concerning the “small” African Cup, C2, CAF therefore opted for a “final four” which will take place in Morocco and without spectators. The semi-finals will be played on September 22 with Pyramids FC (Egypt) against Horoya (Guinea) in Casablanca, and the Moroccan duel RS Berkane against HUSA in Rabat. The final will also be held in Rabat on September 27.

Champions League : home and away matches and a final to be defined

For C1, following Cameroon's refusal to host the end of the tournament, CAF preferred to remain on the principle of matches / two-way, the end of the competition between two Moroccan clubs and two Egyptian clubs (Raja Casablanca - Zamalek , as well as Wydad Casablanca - Al Ahly). In accordance with the principle of equity, it was decided not to resort to a Final Four in Egypt or Morocco  ", explains the body based in Cairo.

The semi-finals will therefore be played on September 25 and 26 in Morocco, while the return matches will be held in Egypt on October 2 and 3. The final will take place on neutral ground in the event of opposition between an Egyptian team and a Moroccan team  ," continues CAF, which is calling for applications from countries wishing to host this prestigious game. However, if the two Egyptian or Moroccan clubs qualify for the final, the single match will be played either in Egypt or in Morocco on October 16 or 17, 2020,  " the statement said.

As for the presence or not of spectators during the end of the Champions League, “  CAF will continue discussions with the various stakeholders  ”.
