«Dubai Design» launches the regional forum for architecture

The "Dubai Design District" yesterday announced the launch of the inaugural session of the "Regional Forum for Architecture", in partnership with the Royal Institute of British Architects "RIBA" Gulf Region Branch, and with the support of Juan Roldan, Assistant Professor in the College of Architecture, Art and Design at the American University In Sharjah, from 11 to 13 November 2020, within the activities of the Dubai Design Week, which is held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the Culture and Arts Authority in Dubai, "Dubai Culture".

The forum, held under the slogan "Identity and Creation of Place in the Gulf", is an opportunity for the most prominent experts, specialists and local and international talents in the fields of architecture, urbanism and sustainable development in the region to meet, and to shed light on the most prominent engineering and architectural achievements in the Emirate of Dubai and the region in general.

The forum will start with an opening ceremony in Building 6 in the Dubai Design District on November 11th, and the event will host a series of dialogue sessions to discuss the prospects for the Middle East's transition towards a more sustainable and innovative future, and designers, architects and interested persons will be able to participate in specialized seminars in the fields of design on a daily basis.

In the context, the Executive Director of the Dubai Design District, Khadija Al Bastaki, said: “Dubai has always been known for its ambitious leadership vision, and its keenness to attract the best minds and companies, and architecture, innovation and design is no exception, as Dubai embraces the best, most innovative and sustainable architectural designs and shapes the urban horizon. As we continue to gradually return to our normal life in the post-Covid-19 world, our relationship with the urban fabric and nature becomes more important than ever before.

She added, "In line with this priority, and realizing that the Dubai Design District has today become the headquarters of the most prominent architecture firms in the Middle East, we are pleased to announce the launch of the forum to provide a platform for discussing issues of this vital sector and its role in the social, cultural and economic life of the emirate and the region in general." .
