For three months, the Bouches-du-Rhône and part of the Var have been deprived of a daily national press. - Clément Follain / 20 Minutes

Presstalis has been bought out, but the social conflict continues around the former newspaper distribution giant. The publication of Figaro was prevented in France Thursday by the blocking by the CGT of its printing plants in the Gard and Seine-Saint-Denis.

The Midi Print warehouse in Gallargues-le-Montueux (Gard) was blocked Wednesday evening by some forty former employees of the Marseille agency and distribution company (SAD), preventing its distribution throughout the South of France. The second Figaro printing center, located in Tremblay-en-France (Seine-Saint-Denis) was also blocked.

600 dismissed employees

The regional subsidiaries of Presstalis, including SAD, were liquidated on May 15 by the Paris Commercial Court, causing the dismissal of more than 600 employees.

The daily newspaper cooperative, including Le Figaro in particular , had acquired Presstalis but not its subsidiaries.

In Marseille, the situation is particularly critical: no agreement has been reached to resume newspaper distribution. The former workers of SAD wish to transform their former company into a cooperative society of collective interest (SCIC).

"There is nothing moving forward"

"There is nothing moving forward at the national level - even less in Marseille - and it is the editors who are responsible for it", laments the CGT representative Maxime Picard.

In the Bouches-du-Rhône and part of the Var, the national daily press has been absent from kiosks for more than three months.
