New Corona Vaccine Domestic production subsidizes 90 billion yen to 6 companies Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare August 7 22:38

In order to boost domestic production of the new coronavirus vaccine, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare has decided to subsidize over 90 billion yen in total for businesses such as six pharmaceutical companies.

Regarding the vaccine of the new coronavirus, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare has agreed with two pharmaceutical companies, AstraZeneca in the United Kingdom and Pfizer in the United States, to supply it if it is successfully developed.

Separately from this, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare decided to make a public offering to improve the domestic production system, and to support more than 90 billion yen for the projects of 6 pharmaceutical companies.

Of these, 30.1 billion yen will be provided to Takeda Pharmaceutical, 22.3 billion yen to Shionogi Pharmaceutical, 16.2 billion yen to AstraZeneca, 9.4 billion yen to Anges, 6.1 billion yen to KM Biologics, and 3 billion yen to Daiichi Sankyo.

It includes companies with overseas headquarters, but it means that each of them is aiming for vaccine production in Japan.
