Former Minister of Justice Katsuyuki Kawai and his wife's lawyer, Mr. Kasato, who were charged with a large-scale acquisition of the Upper House election last year, filed a second bail request in the Tokyo District Court on the 7th. The court will again decide whether to allow bail.

Former Minister of Justice Katsuyuki Kawai (57) distributed over 29 million yen to 100 people, including local legislators and executives of the supporters' association, over the House of Councilors election last year when his wife, Satoshi (46), was elected for the first time. Was indicted on July 8 for the acquisition of a violation of the Public Offices Election Law, and Senator Satari was also prosecuted for distributing 1.7 million yen to the five local lawmakers.

Former Minister Kawai, Representative Kaori, and their respective lawyers filed a second bail request to the Tokyo District Court immediately after the indictment.

Both initial bail claims have been dismissed and the court will be given another 7 days claim to decide whether or not to grant bail.

The Kawai and his wife's trial is supposed to be conducted in a prompt "100-day trial", and the Public Offices Election Law stipulates that we must try to open the first trial within 30 days after prosecution, The date of the first trial has not been decided within 7 days, 30 days after the indictment.
