Fukushima Futaba Town August 7th, 13:09

In front of Obon, where people evacuated due to the nuclear accident visited the hometown, volunteers conducted grass cleaning and other cleaning activities around JR Futaba Station in Futaba Town, Fukushima Prefecture.

In Futaba Town, Fukushima Prefecture, the evacuation order due to the nuclear accident that occurred in the whole town was canceled for the first time in a part around Futaba Station in March, and the JR Joban Line is also restarting all lines.

For this reason, it is expected that more people will come to Furusato from the evacuation site than usual every year, and on the 7th, a cleaning activity around the station was carried out at the call of a local town development group.

Approximately 30 people, including volunteers and workers working on reconstruction-related work, participated in the harsh heat, using a sickle to mow weeds while wiping off sweat.

Takashi Ishigami, who is also the secretary general of the Futaba Project, a community development organization, who is also evacuating to Iwaki City, said, “Before the number of people visiting Ombon to visit graves increased, I wanted to clean up the surrounding area. The town is slowly moving toward reconstruction, so I would like many townspeople to visit and see the current situation."
