There is no risk of seeing Cameron Diaz on the screens, big or small, for a while. The actress, invited to her friend Gwyneth Paltrow's podcast, revealed that she was very happy to have left Hollywood, and that she no longer felt the need to be in front of the cameras, quite the contrary.
“I found a kind of peace deep in my soul, because I was able to begin to take care of myself. It's weird to say, I know a lot of people won't understand it, but I know you understand it, it's so intense to work at that level, and to be exposed like that, and to show yourself to everyone, ”she explained to her colleague.
Following her debut in The Mask opposite Jim Carrey in 1994, Cameron Diaz has made her mark in some of the most cult and popular films of the past 20 years, such as Mary At Any Price , The Very Bad Things , Dans la Peau de John Malkovich , Vanilla Sky , or even Gangs of New York , Martin Scorsese's epic masterpiece where she gave the answer to Leonardo DiCaprio and Daniel Day-Lewis.
Too many stakes
But it was apparently the pressure of acting in films with such big economic stakes that gradually took her away from Hollywood lights. “I stopped and looked at my life. When we make a film, the producers do what they want with us, they own us. We are there for twelve hours, every day, for whole months, we have time for nothing. And I wanted and needed to know if I was able to take care of myself, to be an adult, ”she added.
Cameron Diaz, who has been married to Good Charlotte singer Benji Madden since 2015, decided to focus on her family life. She hasn't filmed anything since 2004 and in 2018 announced that she was, officially, retired, although she hasn't closed the door on any Hollywood comeback. Still, she has a more important job for the moment: that of mom. At 47, the star and her husband welcomed their first child, little Raddix, in December 2019.
