  • Is Brigitte Macron one of the many French people to show a certain relaxation in respecting barrier gestures in the face of the coronavirus in favor of sunny days?
  • This is what suggests a photo relayed on Facebook, which shows the First Lady shaking hands with a vacationer, without wearing a mask.
  • This is actually a misleading post since the photo dates from the summer of 2018.

"These are the barrier gestures of our leaders and we must die under a mask of shit that is useless." On Facebook, a post castigates the alleged non-compliance with the health measures in force against the coronavirus by Brigitte Macron.

We see her, in the photo illustrating this message, shaking the hand of a man in a swimsuit, in the middle of a crowd of vacationers, without the slightest mask being visible around.

But contrary to what this post suggests, the scene does not date from this summer.

FAKE OFF

It dates back to August 7, 2018, during a walkabout by the Macron couple, then on vacation at Fort Brégançon (Var). We find in particular different pictures of this output in an article from Purepeople.

And if Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron were present at Fort Brégançon a few days ago, their escapade to a pizzeria in Lavandou was made by wearing masks, as can be seen in the pictures relayed by Var Matin. A photo of the President of the Republic, which shows him seated, his mask in hand, with the mayor of Toulon, Hubert Falco, had however earned him criticism on social networks a few days later.

This is not the first time that an archive taken long before the coronavirus epidemic has been taken out of context on social networks to point the finger at the alleged non-compliance with barrier gestures: Emmanuel Macron and other European leaders had already paid the price in July.
