Actor Tom Hanks - Andrea Raffin / KIKAPRESS / VISUAL Press Agency

Disney continues to string together live-action remakes of its classics. Latest project in the boxes of the Hollywood giant: Pinocchio. And it looks like the cast is about to expand, since Mickey's house is, if Deadline is to be believed , negotiating with Tom Hanks to play Gepetto, the daddy of the puppet.

After Toy Story 4 (which seemed to mark the last appearance of his character of Woody the Cowboy), the actor could return to the fold of Disney but also find one of his favorite directors: Robert Zemeckis, with whom he has already worked on 3 films, and not least:  Forrest Gump , Seul au Monde and Le Pôle Express .

Box announced?

The screenplay for this new Pinocchio will be signed by Chris Weitz, who was already writing the Cinderella remake in 2015, very well received by critics and spectators, since it generated $ 540 million at the box office. Before embarking on this new adventure (if he signs, of course), Tom Hanks will play another mythical figure of pop culture: Colonel Tom Parker, the manager of Elvis Presley.

The actor was in the middle of filming the biopic directed by Baz Luhrmann when the coronavirus crisis, which he contracted with his wife Rita Wilson, interrupted filming last March. Elvis is due to be on the big screen on November 5, 2021, after seeing his release delayed.
